Went here for a special meal with my family. The food was exceptional and the staff are lovely.
Overnight stay with two work colleagues. The staff were excellent- very friendly and helpful. The building is historical and beautiful and full of character. My room was very comfortable- the bed and linen were nice. Spacious bathroom with an electric power shower and separate bath. My only tiny negative was the strange noises throughout the night - I think it was plumbing (it’s an old building as I said). I think I would have got used to it if I stayed longer. Dinner in the main restaurant was lovely and breakfast was superb - I would definitely stay again.
I didn't stay here, but I had breakfast and an evening meal here. The breakfast was fresh and spot-on for me, not too big!. The evening meal, I had to wait for a single diner, but my order was superb. I had a starter and main meal. The chef put together a delightful looking dish, and I thoroughly enjoyed my lamb. Would recommend eating here for sure.
Went in today for Sunday lunch, the food was fantastic, the service was faultless, the manager Chris made us feel welcome. All staff were great. Didn’t rush us and also didn’t leave us waiting forever between courses. Best meal, service and relaxed atmosphere I’ve had dining out for a while.
Popped in for a drink after visiting Montacute House which is very close by. Beautiful traditional pub. Clean with friendly welcome and relaxing atmosphere. Dog friendly in the bar area but plenty of comfortable places to sit with the dog. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Ended up staying for a light lunch...cauliflower and cheddar soup was so tasty, served with plenty of warm crusty bread. My husband had the very tasty scotch egg. Large garden and parking behind the pub. Lovely outlook and views in picturesque village. Would love to come back to stay

Fantastic lunch while on a St Michael's hill and Montacute House walk. Ploughman's for myself (absolutely fabulous!) And my husband had a fish finger ciabatta which was just scrumptious. The pub was very homely with a great buzz as it was nice and busy. The staff were incredibly attentive and chatty. The lady server also recommended other walks to us. This was a gem of a bank Holiday lunch and we will certainly be back if we find ourselves that way again. Thank you
On a walk from the National Trust house and thought we'd pop in for a bit of tea and cake. Staff were very welcoming and dogs were welcome also. Cake was delicious as well.
I've been only in the pub for few hours and I'd say is very nice and cosy place. Worth stopping by if you're in the area.
